Students call for abstracts: Understanding wartime narratives in the digital age
We invite you to send in your abstract, and who knows you will be invited to present your story on the International Seminar on Heritage Interpretation and Presentation for Future Generations (June 15, 2023), held at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
The Institute of International Studies at Seoul National University (SNU), the Heriland (EU project on heritage and spatial planning) at VU Amsterdam, and OurWorldHeritage (OWH) are hosting an international seminar on Heritage Interpretation and Presentation for Future Generations at VUA on June 15 (Thurs), 2023. The seminar seeks to draw young generations’ attention for heritage interpretation and presentation in relation to wartime heritage sites and various human rights issues.
In line with the seminar’s aims to draw young generations’ participation and attention to issues of heritage interpretation, we seek to select three students to participate as presenters at our international seminar. Student presentations will focus on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to (1) younger generations’ perception on war time heritage interpretation, (2) exemplar cases of heritage interpretation and its legacies, (3) the role of various platforms (i.e., media, academia, heritage sites, schools, museums and etc.) on propagating heritage interpretation, (4) potential policy recommendations for encouraging accurate and correct heritage interpretation.
Presentation opportunity and travel support
The seminar will take in Amsterdam on June 15, 2023 and is live broadcasted. We will select 3 submissions of which the authors will be invited to present their project during the seminar. Their travel and accommodation (one night) will be supported.
Seven other students will be selected and given the choice to participate at the seminar as poster presenters. We offer 300 euros per person for travel to and accommodation in Amsterdam, should you choose to participate at the poster session.
